Situated in the Arctic region, the environment is of great importance for the Government of Greenland. Therefore, all hydrocarbon exploration in Greenland must follow best environmental practices and the highest international standards in order to protect the environment.
In the amendment of the Mineral Resources Act of 2012, environmental protection was separated out as an independent area. Therefore, today this area is managed by the Environmental Agency of Mineral Resources Activities (EAMRA). You can read more about EAMRA here. The website also has all the guidelines for the environmental aspects of hydrocarbon exploration.
